Ultraman: Rising will be available to watch on Netflix from June 14, 2024.
Ken Sato is both a baseball superstar and a secret superhero. When pressed into action, Sato, who is also Ultraman, defeats his latest adversary. But when the monster is sent down, Ultraman discovers a baby kaiju who is left behind. Suddenly in his care, the famous hero has to adopt the dangerous creature and raise it safely.
Ultraman: Rising is an upcoming animated superhero movie based on the Japanese studio Tsuburaya Productions franchise Ultraman. The movie is directed by Shannon Tindle and John Aoshima with Tindle also handling the screenplay alongside Marc Haimes. Ultraman: Rising is produced by Netflix Animation, Tsuburaya Productions, and Industrial Light & Magic handling the animation.
Ultraman: Rising features Christopher Sean voicing Ken Sato/Ultraman. He is known for his role in the animated series, Star Wars Resistance as well as a recurring role in the show You. He is joined by Gedde Watanabe in the role of Professor Sato. Tamlyn Tomita voices Emiko/Mina, while Keone Young and Julia Harriman star as Dr. Onda and Ami respectively.
Ultraman is an intergalactic space warrior. His original birth place is the Land of Light in Nebula M78. After accidentally killing an innocent human on Earth, he becomes the planet's protector. He battles against giant monsters, known as kaijus that seek to destroy civilization. He is not himself a kaiju but has come up against the likes of Godzilla, Takkong, Belyudra, and many more. But rather than vanquish a powerful enemy, in Ultraman: Rising, the titular lead must take care of and raise a baby kaiju.
Ultraman is not a licensed Marvel superhero, although Marvel have produced limited runs of the Ultraman comics. Ultraman: Rising is not tied to any Marvel superheroes and does not exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
