Jake Sully, Neytiri and the rest of the Omaticaya clan have defeated the miners who tried to conquer their land and make a profit. The mind behind the Avatar franchise is Canadian filmmaker James Cameron. Cameron has been working on some form of Avatar since his school days when he would create sketches about a planet named Flora and the creatures that lived on it.
Sam Worthington reprises his roles as Jake Sully, the gun-for-hire who abandoned his human life to join the Omaticaya clan. Zoe Saldana also returns as Neytiri, the strong-willed hunter with whom Jake has fallen in love. In Avatar 2: The Way of Water, the unlikely couple have started a family. Kate Winslet plays Ronal, a freediver from the Metkayina people. The Metkayina are a Na'vi clan located on Pandora's reefs. Avatar 2: The Way of Water was released in theaters on December 16, 2022.
